The Brahma is an American breed of chicken. It was developed in the United States from birds imported from the port of Shanghai China, and was the principal American meat breed from the 1850’s until about 1930.
Both the light and the dark were included in the first Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association in 1874; the buff variant was added in 1924 or 1929. We offer the light version.
Description
The Light Brahma is a giant chicken breed originating in the United States. They have a distinctive appearance, with feathered legs, feet, and a thick coat of soft, fluffy feathers. They come in various colors, but the “light” variety is predominantly white with black hackles and tail feathers and a strikingly patterned black and white striped head.
